Additional Information
My husband and I really love classic sweets and, although we are always on a diet, classic sweets are our real downfall. You know the story – we have a real splurge on the weekend and eat whatever we want. Traditional breakfasts, roast beef dinners with all of the trimmings and then we decide to go into frugal mode on Monday for the whole week. However, we only seem to manage until Wednesday when our penchant for classic sweets lets us down and one or the other of us stops of at the sweet shop on the way home. My husband said to me the other day that maybe we should stop trying to punish ourselves and perhaps balance our diet more so that we are allowed an occasional treat in the week. He suggested that if we made healthier breakfasts at the weekend and tried to stop having a fry up on both days then we could afford a few sweets during the week without piling on the pounds. I have to say that I agree with him and so we are giving it a go for the next month to try to get into shape for Christmas. Of course, the reason for this is only so that we can completely gorge ourselves over the festive period!
I have always really loved sweets and I have spent many years of my childhood tramping round sweet shops in search of delicious items like midget gems and rosy apples. Now, however, it seems that the old fashioned sweet shop has all but disappeared from the high street and it is getting more and more difficult to find my favourite sweets. However, a friend recently told me that you can buy retro sweets nowadays on the internet and explained to me that she had found out that there were a whole load of retro sweets to be had including all of my favourites. I was tremendously excited about this when I found out and decided to look at the website myself that very evening to see what retro sweets I could order for myself. It was such good fun! There were all of my old favourites, including some that I had long forgotten about. Of course, I completely lost track of what I was doing and ordered far more of them than I had planned to. No matter, I am so excited about tasting them all.
My friend has just got a new job selling sweet hampers for Christmas. Now I know that many people buy food hampers at Christmas but I had never heard of sweet hampers before. However, she reports that she is doing very well with the sales of her sweet hampers and she is really enjoying travelling round and selling them. As she points out, they are the ideal thing for a family to buy who have children. As we all know, all children love sweets and what better way to start Christmas than to have a whole hamper of sweets all to yourself. She has told me that all of her clients have really honed in on this point and she thinks that this will become a big trend in the future. I know that when I was a child I would have absolutely loved to have had such a thing for Christmas and I know that it would have kept me quiet and entertained for days which must be a real selling point. She has told me that her orders are multiplying every day and she expects to be extremely busy right up until Christmas. She is really pleased about the commission she will earn and expects to have a really good Christmas herself because of it.
